Togetherness is a key driver of any organizational change.

Togetherness is a key driver of any organizational change.

Idea generation is about establishing a creative space in the organizations and enabling teams to come up with new and original ideas for products and services. But innovations or product development in large and medium-sized organizations is not only about innovative thinking, it is also about a establishing a process or a sequence of how to generate and register ideas, screen them for potential, develop a concept or a product and launch it to market. Scrupulous work needs to be done with word crafting to transform the idea into meaningful, sellable, and executable brand. Many rounds of revisions may be needed before the concept is ready to be commercialized.

Yet, within all this complexity, there is one element that often seems to be left out. There are many layers of organizational cooperation or as we call it ‘togetherness’ that needs to happen so that transformation of the idea into the sellable product can happen.

So, we have defined 4 key components for building building ideas into concepts and brands:

Process - to get the innovation right we need to have process ready shape the chosen innovation into a market-ready offer.

Filter - the steps with ideas we need to make to have the right choice of innovation to pursue by walking in the shoes of the consumer.

Marketing and Insights - sculpting the product and making creative solutions original to tell the story of the innovation.

‘Togetherness’ - getting key people inside the organization and partners behind you. Success is the product of organizational togetherness, from top to bottom.

People have to deal with large distribution networks, complex hierarchies and massive balance sheets. Innovative companies move faster due to shorter planning cycles, effectively use new media from tonnage to precision, and adopt owner operations when company leaders involve in day-to-day operations and really know the process.

So, this last element of ‘togetherness’ really enables leaders and teams to move things along through organizational complexity especially in large systems and matrix organizations. Leaders need to drive passion from top to bottom, excite people with news and change.
